Heine Hansen, 28- year-old pianist from Copenhagen, Denmark Born 1978 in Grenaa (small Danish city), where he started taking piano lessons at the age of 7 at the local music school. He first took an interest in jazz at the age of 14, when he attended a concert starring the American piano player, Butch Lacy. Started playing professionally at the age of 18. Accepted at the Rhythmic Conservatory of Music in the year 2000, on a special education for selected talents. Finished in June 2005, with excellency. Heine Hansen is a much sought-after sideman and studio musician, and has accompanied some of the finest musicians in Denmark, as well as visiting soloist from abroad. He has performed with NHØP, Johnny Griffin, Herb Geller, Phil Woods, Ed Thigpen, Alex Riel, Jesper Lundgaard, Mads Vinding, Hugo Rasmussen, Benjamin Koppel, Nisse Sandstrøm, Krister Anderson a. o. This scholarship is normally presented only to young talented students of classical music, but once in a while this scholarship is also awarded to huge talents of a different musical persuasion.
